The Magic of Remembering

The season from Thanksgiving through the start of the new year can be some of the most joyous, exhilarating, stressful and magical times of life. Families come together, work feels both extra important and not important at all, and our collective mood settles into a state that can only be described as relaxed chaos, but in a weirdly good way.

Depending on where you live, the weather transforms into a landscape of wintery sparkle and wonder or it gets mildly cooler, yet still warranting “sweater weather” season despite the 63-degree fahrenheit forecast for the next 30 days. In either case, the power of this seasonal change becomes infectious (also in a good way) with all the vibrant decorations, festive parties and year ending revelry one hopes for.

While this is officially Andy’s first holiday season, the Anderson Hay company has been around for over 60 years, and it is this history and familiarity that has inspired our desire to remember (and share) the magic of the season.

Yes, a lovely gift from your great aunt is exciting and opening presents does spark joy, but we believe that the real magic of the season comes in remembering those more subtle moments.  Hugging your grandma after not seeing her for 2 years because of a world-wide pandemic or cooking your first holiday meal as a newlywed couple, or volunteering at your local animal rescue, or holding your fur baby while watching a movie, or simply warming your hands with a steaming mug of hot chocolate after playing in the freshly fallen snow - it is connections like these that inspire and remind us to Remember the Magic.

For the next 31 days, we will be sharing themes and ideas that touch on some of these magical moments.  Every day, using our awkwardly coined but beautifully-designed-by-Ali, “AndyVent Calendar”, we’ll open a new door to reveal what mystery and magic awaits - from DIY rabbit treats to Andy giveaway baskets to hay product discounts to giving opportunities, these next 31 days are going to be fun, and we hope you’ll join and share with us throughout the month.  We are besties after all, right?
