Why Organic?

Choose organic for better animal health.

It just makes sense that ingesting less chemicals leads to a healthier pet. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals essentially are what they eat. Their food has a significant impact on their digestive health, the sheen and quality of their coat, and their overall health. The regulations of organic products in the United States are designed to allow natural substances in organic farming, while ensuring that most synthetic substances are not used. The use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is prohibited in organic products.

USDA Certified Organic

What does it mean to be USDA certified organic?

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) organic certification is considered the gold standard in the United States. There are many steps that go into becoming certified organic with the USDA, from the way farmers grow and process their crops to how they’re stored. Organic certified farms and processing facilities are inspected by the USDA each year to ensure compliance with organic regulations. USDA organic products are verified for proper handling at every step of the journey, from the farm to your doorstep.

"USDA ORGANIC IS THE ONLY FEDERALLY REGULATED ORGANIC LABEL ON THE SHELF. IT INDICATES THAT FARMERS AND BUSINESSES HAVE MET STRICT STANDARDS FOR THE GROWING, PROCESSING, AND HANDLING OF THEIR PRODUCTS.”

- U.S. Department of Agriculture

Sustainable Farming

Better for the environment.

Choosing organic is not only an excellent choice for you and your animal, but it also helps the planet. Organic farming practices are more sustainable and keep pesticides and chemicals out of the soil, which protects local communities, farm workers, and nearby wildlife (including pollinators). Most organic farms have more fertile soil and use less energy than conventional farms. This also means that organic products, such as hay, are more likely to contain some traces of weeds and other plants.

Anderson Hay & Grain is proud to be USDA certified organic, which allows Andy to offer Organic 1st Cutting Timothy Hay for a fresh farm-to-feed option for your small pet.
